humimeter BL2 - moisture meter for wood, wood chips and bales

One meter, three different ways of measuring

The humimeter BL2 has no sensor of its own - it is a read-out unit to which a probe is matched. The same housing takes the one metre insertion probe for bulk materials and the ram electrode for solid wood, and with an added tip set it also handles hay and straw bales. One instrument therefore checks a pile of chips, a log and a bale.

Probes required for the meter to work

Without a probe the instrument takes no measurement. The measuring range and the resolution come from the chosen probe, not from the meter itself.

Checking the readings The test block art. no. 12308 gives a quick check that the instrument still measures as it did on the day of calibration. In the 2026 price list it is named for the FL1, FL2, FLH, BLL, BL2, WLW, BLW, SLW, RM1 and BLO as well as for the probes 12122 and 12470. Independently of that it is worth comparing the reading periodically with the oven method.

BL2 or BLL

The humimeter BLL is a meter with a single insertion probe, made for wood chips and loose biomass only - simpler to use and cheaper. The BL2 takes the same insertion probe but also the ram electrode, so it covers solid wood and bales as well. If a site measures nothing but wood chips, the BLL is enough; if there is a stack of logs next to the pile, the BL2 makes more sense.
