Plastics, textiles, pulp, leather, road salt, sewage sludge, recovered material and granulates all hold water differently, so the meter is matched to the material rather than the other way round. The sections below group the devices by what they measure; each card states the calibration curves the meter carries and the article number of the curve developed to order for a material outside that list.
Two rules run through the whole category. Where a device measures a weighed sample in a chamber, keeping to the stated sample weight is the condition for a repeatable result, because that is how the bulk density is compensated. And where no factory curve exists for the material, the manufacturer’s laboratory develops one from samples supplied by the customer, after which the meter handles that material like any other.
