The humimeter SLW is a textile moisture meter with exchangeable electrodes. It measures the water content of natural and synthetic fabrics, yarn, fibres, knitted goods and finished articles - in production, at goods intake and in quality control.
A measurement takes a few seconds and needs no sample preparation. The materials the device is calibrated for include cotton, wool, linen, hemp, jute, viscose, acetate, acrylic, nylon and polyester.
The meter does not measure on its own. Two things are needed and both are bought separately: the electrode handle (art. no. 14800) with its BNC cable, and at least one electrode matched to the material. The handle is common to every electrode type, so extending the set later means buying electrodes only.
The choice of electrode follows the form of the material: needle electrodes for yarn, hanks and bobbins, the long rod electrode for sacks and bales, and the surface electrode wherever the fabric must not be pierced.

The SLW measures with electrodes and reports the water content of the fibre itself. The humimeter RH5 tex measures with a sword probe pushed between the layers and reports the relative humidity of the air inside the stack, which the material has come into equilibrium with. Where a figure for a named fibre is needed, the SLW is the instrument; where a whole stack or bale is to be judged without being opened, the RH5 tex is.
