G100 moisture analyzer and analytical balance

Drying-oven moisture determination, including materials that cannot be calibrated The G100 combines an analytical balance with a heating chamber. The sample is weighed before and after drying, and the instrument works out the water content from the loss of mass. The result does not depend on a calibration curve, so the method also covers the materials that a humimeter cannot be calibrated for: small weighed portions, liquids and pasty masses. A weighing range of 110 g with a readability of 0.001 g allows work on small samples without losing accuracy. Drying is done by a halogen lamp between 40 and 199 °C, and once the programme has ended automatically the instrument gives the finished result.

G100 or G110

Both moisture analyzers have the same weighing range, the same heating chamber and the same drying programmes. They differ in the readability: the G100 reads 0.001 g, the G110 reads 0.005 g. The G100 is the choice where the weighed portion is small or the result has to scatter less, in a laboratory for instance. For ordinary samples the G110 is enough.

Drying programmes

The instrument holds 15 programmes, each with its own time from 1 to 99 minutes and its own temperature. Once set, a programme repeats the same run for every following sample, so results stay comparable between series and between the people who take them.

The result on the display and on the PC

An LCD display shows the reading, and the RS-232 interface connects a printer or a computer so the result can be archived. That matters wherever a measurement has to be documented, not merely read.

The drying-oven method is accurate but slow: a single determination takes as long as the drying programme. Where the measurement has to be quick and taken on the spot, a humimeter calibrated for the particular material usually serves better, and the moisture analyzer remains the reference and control instrument.
