Application

The humimeter BP1 is a pellet moisture meter for quality control in production, during short term storage and at goods intake. It covers wood pellets as well as pellets made from energy crops - thistle, straw, rapeseed, miscanthus and the like.

A measurement takes a few seconds and needs no drying or other preparation. Instead the device weighs a measured portion of the material, which lets it account for bulk density - and bulk density is what decides whether the reading from a container matches the real moisture of the batch.

One limitation: the device does not measure loose sawdust. The curves are made for material pressed into pellets.

How a measurement is taken

The whole accuracy of this device rests on weighing out the right amount of material. That is exactly why the digital scale and the 0.5 l cup are in the box.

  1. Put the empty measuring cup on the scale and zero the reading.
  2. Pour in pellets up to the weight set for the chosen curve, within ±1.0 g.
  3. Tip the material slowly into the measuring container of the meter.
  4. The result appears automatically. You can freeze it with the hold function or store it in the logger together with the supplier name and the batch number.

Weighing out a portion of a different mass shifts the result, because the meter converts the capacity of the container into bulk density. That is why the scale from the set cannot be skipped.
