Measuring the moisture of paper and board in the stack

The humimeter RH5 is a professional paper moisture meter with a sword probe for fast, accurate measurements in stacks of paper, board and other cellulose materials.

It suits printing houses, paper mills, the packaging industry and anyone who checks the quality of paper materials: the probe goes into the stack, the sensor needs a short adaptation time and the reading is there - without taking a sample and without damaging the material.

To take a measurement you push the probe into the stack and wait a short adaptation time. The built-in data logger stores results in the device together with the name of the measuring point, so readings can be documented without writing anything down on paper. The meter is equally suitable for measuring the humidity of the air in a room, for example to check the climate in a printing house or a paper store. It measures the material temperature from -10 to +60 °C in parallel and takes it into account in the result; the temperature can be shown in °C or °F. In heavy stacks of paper and board the aluminium sword of the probe is protected by the optional sword sleeve (art. no. 10451) made of stainless steel. The sleeve is then pulled out of the stack with the sword sleeve extractor (art. no. 10523). When measuring with the sleeve, remember that the sleeve also has to equalise its temperature with the sword. The optional USB interface (art. no. 12278) connects the meter to a PC. The LogMemorizer software reads, archives and exports the measured data and lets you add notes to it. A portable thermal printer (art. no. 15444) can be added to a device with the USB interface, printing results without a computer.

humimeter RH5.2 - the version with the probe set at an angle The humimeter RH5.2 differs from the RH5 in the angled position of the sword probe relative to the housing and display, and in a handle that makes pulling the instrument out of the stack easier. The measuring ranges and the functions of the two models are identical; the dimensions and the weight differ.

Measuring board in a stack with the sword sleeve

1. Push the sword sleeve (art. no. 10451) straight into the stack of paper or board.
2. Insert the sword of the meter carefully into the sleeve.
3. Wait until the sensor has adapted to the conditions inside the stack. The process is finished once the values on the display stop changing. The sleeve also has to equalise its temperature with the sword.
4. Read the relative humidity from the display.
5. The measurement is done - pull the sword straight out of the sleeve so that it does not bend.
6. If the sleeve is hard to pull out of the stack, use the sword sleeve extractor (art. no. 10523).

• Art. no. 10403 - factory calibration certificate documenting the calibration of air humidity (RH) meters.
• Calibration certificate with PCA accreditation - an alternative to the factory certificate (art. no. 10403). We calibrate the meter in an accredited Polish laboratory (PCA, the Polish Centre for Accreditation) and ship it to the customer together with the certificate; the certificate 10403 is then not needed.
• Art. no. 11131 - calibration check for devices of the FS_3, RH and LF series.

The handle of the RH5.2 is part of the meter and is used to pull the instrument together with the sword out of the stack. The sleeve 10451 is a separate accessory: it protects the sword in heavy stacks, and the extractor 10523 pulls out the sleeve itself. In lighter stacks neither is needed; in heavy stacks the set is as useful with the RH5.2 as with the RH5 and RH5.1.
