The humimeter FSx measures the water content of whole grain, without grinding and without drying. You weigh the sample on the scale supplied, pour it into the measuring chamber and read the result together with the material temperature within seconds. The instrument carries the widest product list in the series: from cereals and oilseeds through pulses to green and roasted coffee.

The instrument holds 29 factory calibration curves, plus a reference curve for checking the readings and free slots for your own curves. Cereals: corn, wheat, durum wheat, rye, triticale, barley, oats, peeled spelt. Oilseeds: rape, sunflower, pumpkin seeds, poppy. Pulses: peas, soybeans, horse beans, scarlet runner beans. Special crops and coffee: rice peeled, unpeeled and brown, buckwheat, millet, sorghum, jatropha, green coffee peeled and unpeeled, roasted coffee and ground coffee. The full list with sample weights and ranges is in the table at the bottom of this page.
FSx does not measure an arbitrary amount of grain poured into the chamber. Every curve carries the weight of the portion in its name - from 150 g for ground coffee to 310 g for peas - and the repeatability of the result depends on keeping that weight. The digital scale and the 0.5 litre measuring cup are in the set for exactly this reason.
A fast electrical measurement depends on several factors at once, so the manufacturer recommends comparing the readings with the oven method from time to time. For measuring equipment supervision under ISO there is the test set art. 11758, which covers FSx alongside FSA, FSW and the other meters of the series. A small deviation from the laboratory result is taken out with the offset function.

The USB module with the software is part of the set, so transferring measurements to a PC costs nothing extra. The scale and the cup are not an add-on either - without them you cannot weigh out the portion the curve requires.
Both instruments measure whole grain and both deal with the fact that grain of the same moisture can differ in bulk density - but they do it differently, and that is the only difference which really counts when buying.
FSx compensates bulk density by weighing the portion: you weigh out the mass given in the name of the curve. It does not determine and does not display hectolitre weight.
humimeter FSW has integrated hectolitre weight determination and shows it in kg/hl alongside the moisture reading, with an accuracy of ±0.7 kg/hl. If you trade grain and the hectolitre weight goes on the delivery note, FSW is the instrument. If you need the widest product list, including coffee and special crops, FSx is.
The name of every curve starts with the weight of the portion you have to weigh out. The list follows operating manual v1.1. Products outside this table that the manufacturer price list names for FSx are loaded into the instrument as a curve from the catalogue (art. 12297).
